RICHMOND, VA (July 9, 2013) – Baskervill is excited to announce the merger with BAM Architects closed on June 28, 2013. In late May, Baskervill and Burt Pinnock, AIA, principal of BAM Architects, announced Pinnock and his team were joining Baskervill, a move which brings together two of the most respected design firms in Richmond.

The combined capabilities add depth and enhanced design talent to the firm. Pinnock is now leading his team as one of nine principals in the firm, overseeing cultural, civic, and community-oriented design. Current projects include First Market Square, the Black History Museum, and the Patrick Henry School of Science and Art.

In addition to Pinnock, the new team members include project managers, architects, designers, and administrative personnel as follows:

Mary Lorino, RA, LEED GA, joins the firm as a project manager. Specializing in planning and feasibility studies, she collaborated on such projects as the Dominion Virginia Power Chester Training Facility Addition and Renovation, Patrick Henry School of Science and Art Phase 2, Landmark Theater, and the General District Courthouse in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to her role at BAM Architects, Lorino was a licensed architect in both Richmond and New York City, focused on commercial interiors, residential, and master planning projects. Lorino has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and is a registered architect in Virginia.

Bill Church joins the firm as a project manager. With over 20 years of experience, Church has served as project manager and project architect on a variety of project types, including adaptive reuse, corporate office, and residential, and has also provided interior design services for select clients. Project highlights include Richmond Center Stage, The Steward School Sports Pavilion, and Randolph Hall renovations at Virginia Tech. Prior to joining BAM Architects, he worked at Baskervill and focused on healthcare and electronic technology. Earlier in his career, he worked as a designer in Zurich, Switzerland on small-scale commercial and residential projects. Church holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech.

Kevin Jones joins the firm as a project designer. Jones has nearly 10 years of experience in architecture, including adaptive reuse and urban master plans for projects ranging from commercial to residential to educational. His clients include Capital One, City of Richmond, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Jones regularly serves as a design critic for Virginia Commonwealth University's Department of Interior Design and Virginia Tech's School of Architecture and presents on the topic of design for various audiences. He currently sits on the Board of Advisors for the Modern Richmond Tour, a quarterly lecture series called Beer + Design, and is a regular design consultant for Storefront for Community Design. Previously he served as adjunct faculty in Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts. Jones holds a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech.

Ben Winn joins the firm as project designer. With five years of experience as an intern architect, Winn's projects have ranged from commercial to cultural to educational, including Need Supply Co., The Richmond Slave Trail, and Huguenot High School. Winn holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Tim Hamnett joins the firm as project designer. With nearly five years of architectural design experience, he joined BAM Architects in 2012. He chairs the AIA Beer + Design quarterly lecture series, is a member of the AIA Design Forum Committee, and volunteers with Rebuilding Together Richmond. Hamnett studied architecture at the University of Florida, holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Alabama.

Marta Powers joins the firm as project coordinator. Serving as a project and administrative resource for BAM Architects for several years, Powers will serve in a similar capacity at Baskervill. In addition, she will also manage employee benefits with the human resources team. In her spare time, Powers works as an entrepreneur and small business owner. Previously, she worked for Capital One.
