January 2022 - Hoffmann Architects, an architecture and engineering firm specializing in building exteriors, commemorates 45 years in business.

Founded on January 7, 1977, Hoffmann Architects began with the mission to address design details that are commonly overlooked. John J. Hoffmann, FAIA started the practice with the intention of providing specialized expertise in building exterior details and construction technology.

Since then, Hoffmann Architects has grown to more than 40 employees in three states and has earned a reputation for excellence in building envelope rehabilitation design. Consistently ranked in the top 100 architecture/engineering firms by Building Design+Construction, Hoffmann Architects has contributed to the restoration of some of the most significant architectural landmarks in the United States, including the United States Capitol, the Smithsonian Institution, the Chrysler Building, Rockefeller Center, the New York Stock Exchange, the United Nations, Folger Shakespeare Library, the Ford Foundation Building, and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Now owned by a diverse group of 16 shareholders, including founder John Hoffmann and Russell M. Sanders AIA, who became president of the firm in 2019, Hoffmann Architects continues to evolve. Recipient of the inaugural Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award from AIA Connecticut, the firm is committed to expanding not only its contributions to sustainable, high-performance building enclosure design, but also to fostering inclusivity and opportunity for diverse professionals in the firm and in the industry.
