Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, is expanding its expertise in animal habitat design with the addition of team members from PJA Architects + Landscape Architects (PJA). For nearly three decades, PJA has provided architecture, landscape architecture, zoological and botanical design, entertainment planning, and master planning for global clients across six continents.

Patrick Janikowski, who founded PJA in 1997, and his team have designed zoos, safari parks, and exhibits across the US and in Australia, Chile, China, Qatar, Singapore, Türkiye, and United Arab Emirates. PJA’s work strives to create impactful and educational interactive experiences that connect humans with animals and the natural world, while upholding the highest standards of international practice.

Some of PJA’s signature projects include the new Doha Zoo in Doha, Qatar; Asia Trail II in Washington, DC; Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida; Longsha Zoo & Botanical Center in Qiqihar, China; Australia Zoo Hotel in Beerwah, Australia; Polar Adventure in Hong Kong; and River Safari in Singapore.
