Global integrated design firm Stantec announced today that team members from GL Planning & Design (GLP)—a design firm specializing in laboratory planning and architecture for Science & Technology (S&T) projects—will join its Buildings practice. GLP’s specialized focus in the programming, planning, and design of laboratory and research spaces will bolster Stantec’s capabilities in delivering high-performing, life science facilities across North America.

GLP has extensive experience with specialty S&T project types, including vivariums, clean rooms, and bio-containment facilities. The GLP team also brings with them an impressive portfolio of labs, manufacturing facilities, clean rooms, and specialty research spaces for clients including Stanford University, Amgen, Genentech, Bayer, UC Davis, UC San Francisco, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, USC, and Stanford Health Care.

“The team at GLP brings an incredibly deep knowledge of laboratory and research design, and it will add a welcomed expertise to our growing team,” said Christopher Wilson, vice president and regional business leader for Stantec’s Buildings practice. “Together, we will greatly enhance our Science & Technology capabilities to deliver vital research and production spaces for both public and private clients nationwide.”

Stantec recently earned the top spot on Building Design + Construction’s annual Giants 400 Report ranking of the top architecture and engineering firms for the 9th consecutive year. With a portfolio of laboratories and facilities for research and development, academic research, biomedical, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, the firm understands the complexities of designing facilities and processes that inspire creative thinking and collaboration.
