GF55 Architects, based in New York City, used their expertise in urban mixed-use developments and educational institutions to create The Remington Boys & Girls Clubhouse. The brand-new Clubhouse is the cornerstone of the Lincoln Park Development, a three-building complex that is at the heart of New Rochelle’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (NR DRI).

The Remington serves as the visual anchor to the urban development and has a core mission of serving the preteen and teenage community outside of school with expanded pathways for academic reinforcement, socialization, and athletics.  GF55’s playful design of the 23,400 square foot structure replaces the former outdated Boys & Girls clubhouse. Industrial materials such as standing seam metal roofing, a multi-toned fiber cement board, corrugated metal panel accents, and double height glazing impart a visual liveliness that is appropriate for this institution. Fresh graphics and the unique shape of the building make it iconographic and easily identifiable as a new local landmark.

Designed to encourage development and creativity among youth, the state-of-the-art facility boasts an array of amenities including a gymnasium, a fine arts studio, a digital content studio, classrooms, cozy teen lounges, versatile social areas, and fully equipped meeting rooms and offices.

Situated at 116 Guion, the Lincoln Park Development includes The Renaissance, an 11-story multifamily residential building designed by GF55. The building will provide 180 affordable residential units to the local community.  A new parking garage is situated between The Renaissance and the Remington Clubhouse.

The urban development and particularly the Remington Clubhouse serves as an example of the transformative power of architecture to revitalize urban spaces and support community growth.  The Remington will not only be a vital center of youth support, but it is also intended to be a springboard for the future of the wider New Rochelle community. The Clubhouse brings NR DRI’s vision one step closer to redefining downtown New Rochelle as a walkable, sustainable, and community-oriented "NY Satellite City".  Funded by the local non-profit Guion Renaissance Housing Development Fund Corporation, the NRP Group, Kensworth Consulting, The Remington Boys & Girls Club, and the City of New Rochelle, the development illustrates the strength of public-private partnerships to push the goals of a flourishing downtown with an emphasis on youth and working-class citizens.
