LEESBURG, Va., Sept. 16, 2024 – REHAU introduces ARTEVO™ tilt-turn windows and balcony doors, an original system where modern design meets vigorous material innovations. Built from patented RAU-FIPRO® glass-fiber reinforced PVC, the system allows manufacturers and specifiers to deliver bigger, stronger windows for commercial and residential buildings while breaking the dependency on steel reinforcement. When paired with the new RAU-FLECT™ Low-E insert, ARTEVO offers a fully recyclable solution that contributes superior performance to passive house and zero-energy building.
“ARTEVO is a true engineering masterpiece, providing powerful stability and torsional rigidity to create sweeping views that don’t depend on steel,” said Katherine MacNevin, marketing manager with REHAU’s window solutions division in North America. “Our exclusive RAU-FIPRO hybrid PVC technology provides the strength needed to support lofty designs without the sting of a lofty price tag.”
A fusion of short-strand glass fibers and PVC, RAU-FIPRO hybrid technology has been making it possible to build 33% larger windows without steel reinforcement for more than a decade. When combined with the artistry of new ARTEVO profiles, this award-winning material delivers strength and stability that supports even larger openings, up to 9.2 ft (2.8 m) in height. With a 4-19/32 in (117 mm) total frame and sash height, ARTEVO provides a more expansive daylight opening for panoramic views that are fortified by the thermal insulation of RAU-FIPRO.
ARTEVO windows and balcony doors are key contributors to passive house and zero-energy building. The new RAU-FLECT Low-E insert optimizes thermal insulation, making it possible to meet U.S. Department of Energy R-7 window program requirements and achieve passive house cool, temperate climate certification. This new material technology is a V-shaped, weldable PVC component that has a reflective coating to eliminate convection in profile chambers, reducing heat radiation and providing reliability in extreme temperatures. In addition to its performance advantages, RAU-FLECT is available in rolls for easy storage and installation. The component simply slides into the chamber, without the need for skilled labor.
“When ARTEVO was in the early stages of development, we were determined to design a system that would be more eco-conscious, cleaner to process and easier to weld,” said Randy Hoover, senior manager of design with REHAU’s window solutions division in North America. “We studied available solutions from the lens of our vast material knowledge to strengthen ARTEVO’s thermal qualities. While expanding foam and polystyrene foam have been the ‘go-to’ insulators, these materials get in the way of weld plates and pose health concerns due to particulate inhalation. This led us to zero in on our new material technology, RAU-FLECT, which simply slides into the profile with no extra work, while taking thermal insulation to another level.”
ARTEVO can be configured to cost-effectively meet high-performance thermal, acoustical and structural targets. Featuring a 7-chambered frame and sash, fusion-welded corners, compression-seal technology, multi-point locking and triple-glazing capacity, this tight-sealing system forms a barrier against air, water and noise infiltration. Its 80-mm frame depth with a 2 3/16 in (56 mm) glazing capacity provides versatility for both new construction and remodeling projects. To maximize structural stability in larger units, the ARTEVO glazing design is optimized for adhesive bonding precision, while the frame and sash include integrated reinforcement zones that increase the security of hardware fastening.
From tilt-turn, turn, hopper and fixed windows to tilt-turn and hinged balcony doors, ARTEVO offers a portfolio of styles and range of assembly options to help fabricators tailor solutions that meet unique project goals. The system achieves top performance: U-values down to 0.14, STC ratings up to 44 dB, OITC 37 and structural NAFS ratings up to CW-PG100. REHAU ARTEVO tilt-turn is also designated as a cool, temperate climate Certified Passive House Component by the Passive House Institute in Germany.
“ARTEVO systems not only offer phenomenal performance to meet the most demanding architectural plans of today, but also lend a distinguished look to modern construction,” said MacNevin. “With their elevated design and efficiency, these systems give window manufacturers and specifiers a powerful tool for differentiation.”
A fusion of modern design, high performance and sustainable components, ARTEVO reflects the rich history of REHAU window and door innovation. “ARTEVO ushers in a new era of window and door design, measuring up to challenging environments and efficiency needs,” said Thomas Troeger, CEO of REHAU Americas. “This new system is a significant milestone in our 65-year history of window and door innovation. ARTEVO adds to our portfolio of purposeful designs, from launching the first welded vinyl window in North America in 1976 to pioneering our RAU-FIPRO hybrid PVC technology in 2008, demonstrating our continual drive to push profile technology forward.”
