Leading polymer manufacturer REHAU and manufacturers’ representative Galaxy Plastics Ltd. are pleased to announce their partnership that strengthens support for the Canadian waterworks market in Ontario and British Columbia. On April 1, Galaxy expanded their selective product portfolio by representing the full line of REHAU MUNICIPEX® pipe products. This high-performance, flexible family of products includes water service, pre-insulated, reclaim and force main pipe. The addition of MUNICIPEX diversifies Galaxy’s portfolio as the first municipal piping solution offered by the company. With nearly 30 years of waterworks experience between REHAU and Galaxy, this partnership solidifies the sales and engineering support network for municipalities in eastern and western Canada.

Established in 1990, Galaxy Plastics began as a supplier of fabricated fittings for the hydro and telephone industries in a small regional market. The company has since expanded their capabilities to become a leader in the water and wastewater field with fabricated PVC fittings, offering a full line of storm/sanitary sewer fittings, storm profile fittings, DWV fittings, IPS fittings, BDS drainline fittings and perforated pipe services. As a technically oriented company, Galaxy further offers engineering services such as takeoffs and stamped drawings in support of their product offering. Galaxy aims to deliver quality products and services that their employees are proud of, municipalities recommend and contractors prefer.

“We are constantly evolving, examining our customers’ pain points and strategically building our product portfolio to alleviate those stresses,” says Mike Ashworth, director of sales and marketing at Galaxy Plastics. “As problem-solvers and solution-providers, we are passionate about our industry and communities. The addition of MUNICIPEX to our offering supports our goal of delivering top-quality products that contribute to long-lasting system performance, benefitting future generations.”

Driven by enhancing lives for 75 years, REHAU has perfected the craft of producing crosslinked polyethylene (PEXa) pipe around which their MUNICIPEX family of products is built. MUNICIPEX pipe has been successfully used in water service lines throughout Canada and the United States for more than 25 years. As a flexible, durable, cost-effective alternative to copper, the polymer pipe supports fast and easy installations with its light weight, flexibility and kink resistance. Engineered for tough environments, MUNICIPEX is compatible with native backfill and demonstrates freeze-break and impact resistance. It also offers a 1-year UV resistance for extra peace of mind. Designed to help municipalities build systems that serve generations, MUNICIPEX further boasts resistance to corrosion, mineral build-up, creep, chlorine and slow crack growth. The pipe is backed by a 25-year warranty and a team of knowledgeable product experts who now work alongside Galaxy to provide all-encompassing project support to customers.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Galaxy Plastics to build new connections and nurture existing relationships within the waterworks market in Ontario and British Columbia,” says Mark Hudoba, vice president of REHAU building solutions for the Americas region. “Galaxy’s strong national presence and their well-earned reputation for delivering top-notch products backed by solid engineering know-how have us eager to see what we can accomplish together. We’re ready to bring the advantages of MUNICIPEX to an even wider circle of contractors and communities to help build systems that serve generations.”

“Galaxy is excited to experience a true partnership with the REHAU team, where we learn and grow alongside each other,” says Wes Lane, president of Galaxy Plastics. “Having specified MUNICIPEX previously, I have seen firsthand its superior performance over copper. We’re excited to diversify our portfolio with this municipal piping product and demonstrate how it not only stands out in quality, but also serves the greater good of communities.”
