Join The National Arts Club on Tuesday, April 27 at 5 PM (ET) for an online conversation on "Nature’s Patterns + Design."
Nikos Salingaros and Ann Sussman discuss the importance of patterns and ornament in architecture, both inside and out. The presentation reveals why modern architecture, in the 20th-century, lost the connection to nature with unnatural patterning, and how it can be recaptured.
Salingaros is professor of Mathematics at University of Texas, San Antonio. Sussman, an instructor at the Boston Architectural College (BAC), is president of The Human Architecture + Planning Institute, Inc (theHapi.org). Both are contributors to the new book Urban Experience and Design, Contemporary Perspectives on Improving the Public Realm.
