Between the Leaves is seeking submissions for visioning on the future of housing in a more equitable world.
Between the Leaves is a yearly publication created by Canopy / Architecture + Design that focuses on socio-environmental issues impacting the built environment. Each edition explores perspectives on a chosen topic from a variety of contributors, with the goal to promote empathetic dialogue and strengthen our communities, in a world where equity and mutual understanding are more crucial than ever before.
The inaugural issue, On Housing, seeks to uncover what affordable housing means in Chicago, who it disproportionally affects, why the concentration of poverty amplifies this issue, and how we can respond to the challenge.
Your objective: How can we re-shape the housing market to be more diverse? How can the future of the city be reimagined as a place where all citizens have access to housing? What is the future of design in a more equitable world?
All forms of submissions encouraged: theoretical or practical applications; hand-drawn or digital; comprehensive or simple. We are flexible and eager to see any and all solutions. Proposals can be a brief description of your intended work. Please send proposals and any questions to info@canopy-chicago.com by March 13th. If approved, final submissions will be due on April 3 and those chosen will have their name printed and published alongside leaders in the housing and design industry.
