New York, NY
Montroy DeMarco Architecture LLP completes the redevelopment and expansion of three adjacent commercial buildings into one cohesive building in the Woodstock Section of the Bronx for Urban Dove Team II Charter High School. Urban Dove & UD Team Charter Schools' educational model uses sports and life skills to help at-risk students graduate on time and succeed outside of the classroom. The 39,000 SF conversion project included a gut rehabilitation and the addition of a fourth floor. MDA completely redesigned the buildings to include a high school regulation basketball court, yoga/dance studio, weight room, cafeteria, classrooms, administrative offices, and spaces to meet the athletic and academic needs of Urban Dove's program. The construction of the school also positively impacts the neighborhood by renovating underutilized buildings. The new high school will serve the Bronx students and staff for many years to come.
The project team included Property Owner - Nivneh Capital Group/The Iconic Group, General Contractor - NY Major Construction & Development, Structural Engineer - KPFF Consulting Engineers Inc., and MEP Engineer - A&D Engineering LLP.
