Studio ST Architects is pleased to share that Skokie Valley Synagogue has won a design award from the Society of American Registered Architects! SARA held an award ceremony Saturday, October 28 to celebrate this year’s winners, and they announced that we earned the Honor recognition for the Renovation, Restoration, and Adaptive Re-Use category.

Skokie Valley Synagogue’s renovation transformed the 1963 sanctuary from a dark and formal room to an ethereal, bright and ADA accessible space for a contemporary congregation. The architect and congregation were committed to creating a space that aesthetically addresses current ethical and societal needs. They achieved their goal of creating a contemporary space that allows congregants to experience both the communal aspects of praying together and the personal and intimate spiritual experience.

You can see the rest of the 2023 SARA National Design Award winners on SARA’s website.
