Amenta Emma Architects was honored with two awards at the 10th annual IIDA New England Design Awards ceremony in Boston on March 2. Symmetry Partners received Best In Connecticut, and Quinnipiac University Brand Strategy Group won Best In Show, selected from 106 entries in 12 categories.
Best In Show - Quinnipiac University Brand Strategy Group, Hamden CT A 19th-century house has been transformed into a 21st-century powerhouse for ideas for Quinnipiac University's Brand Strategy Group. The design team’s ambitious approach to opening up the interior spaces of the house resulted in a collaborative contemporary environment for this organization, which is responsible for the University's marketing, communications, brand identity, and digital initiatives.
Best In Connecticut - Symmetry Partners, Glastonbury CT The new Corporate Headquarters for this financial services company is a contemporary, adaptive re-use of a former Data Center. Designers were challenged to bring daylight deep into the 40,000 square-foot building, and to stretch the budget with the creative use of raw, industrial materials.
IIDA New England is a chapter of the International Interior Design Association and holds an annual awards program to recognize the achievements of design firms in the New England area. This year's jury was composed of Susan Szenasy, Publisher and Editor in Chief of Metropolis Magazine, Krista Ninivaggi, Founder of K & Co, and Annie Block, Deputy Editor of Interior Design Magazine.
