Following brisk sales of Thames Edge Phase 1 homes, Fairview, Odd Fellows Home of Connecticut has directed Amenta Emma Architects to proceed with a second phase. Phase 2 of the project, known as Thames Edge, includes seventeen additional homes of single, double, and quad configurations in 9 buildings located along the new main entrance road and a spur road located immediately west of the existing Fairview buildings. The new homes terrace down the sloping hillside of the 70 acre campus which stretches along the Thames River in Groton, Connecticut. The Phase 2 homes, ranging from flats of 1,500 square feet to 3,800 square feet walkouts, are designed with enhancements such as wrap-around decks and corner glazing to maximize the view across the river and to the south all the way out to Long Island Sound. Construction on the second phase is expected to begin late summer 2014 as a continuous process with Phase 1.
The multi-phased housing component at Fairview is being developed to provide seniors with the ability to continue to live in the beautiful greater Groton‐New London community in an independent capacity while, enjoying the benefits of community living and a guaranteed continuum of five-star care throughout their lives.
Phase 1, a new $13 million residential project, is currently under construction, includes 23 new independent living homes, a new 3,753 square‐foot recreation building with a seasonal pool, a small village green, and a main entrance and roadway off of Military Highway, and will be occupied in the second quarter of 2014.
