ZELLNERPLUS has received a Merit Award at the 2012 AIA|LA Design Awards for the Matthew Marks Los Angeles Gallery. This is the first AIA award received by the firm for its first built project.
The 3000 square foot gallery for renown Chelsea gallery owner Matthew Marks features a facade embellished with an Ellsworth Kelly sculpture. The building was conceived as a monolithic, windowless, 70 feet long, 40 feet wide, 32 feet high, white stucco box.
Christopher Hawthorne, Los Angeles Times Architecture Critic described the project as “…one of the most conspicuous architectural debuts to appear in Southern California in a number of years.”
