(Fort Worth, Texas) – On Tuesday, January 25, and Thursday, January 27, VLK Architects, Steele & Freeman, Inc., and Keller Independent School District gathered with students, teachers, school board members, and community stakeholders to commemorate the signing of the final beams for Whitley Road Elementary School and Parkview Elementary School.

Both replacement elementary schools are part of the 2019 voter-approved bond, which supports collaborative, risk-free teaching, learning, and working environments. VLK is currently working on replacing four elementary schools in Keller ISD.

“As we continue to rebuild some of our oldest buildings in Keller ISD, it shouldn’t be lost on anyone that this beam ceremony is occurring during Board Appreciation Month,” said Dr. Rick Westfall, Superintendent of Keller ISD. “Without support from the trustees and the community at large, projects of this nature and impact wouldn’t be possible. I look forward to seeing the new campuses and resulting smiles on the faces of our staff and students.”

The new projects entail replacing aging district facilities that could no longer support Keller ISD’s vision for elementary education that the district has established. The 102,308 SF campus is built upon and incorporates the many strong traditions of Keller ISD while creating new learning and teaching opportunities.

The estimated completion date for both elementary schools is fall of 2022, and the total estimated cost is $26 million.
