The 37,000 square-foot building is built to LEED Silver design for the Suffolk County Department of Public Works. The building set a precedent for future municipal buildings by following an environmentally conscious approach to master planning and architecture. The site location and orientation of the building facades were important considerations during the early stages of development. The footprint of the building was held at a minimum to reduce site disturbance, preserving existing trees and maintain natural vegetation. bld architecture delivered a signature design to the County while maintaining a pre-determined budget established by the Legislature.
