Rosedale Restaurant Bridge Addition

This innovative restaurant is an unprecedented Toronto building type.  Its extraordinary location and outstanding contemporary design represent a one-of-a-kind opportunity to create a unique dining experience.

Forming part of the Rosedale neighbourhood is an 18-acre site known as the Yonge-Summerhill Lands, formerly owned by CP Railway.  A new Master Plan for the revitalization of the Summerhill Lands has maintained the tradition and stability of the surrounding area, while providing for new dwelling units, additional open space, an enhanced public park and the restoration of the historic North Toronto Station.

The 160 seat restaurant will be built on a former passenger platform of the railway bridge that spans across Yonge Street.  A continuous wall of floor-to-ceiling glass within the dramatic 110-foot long main dining area will provide an uninterrupted southward view down Yonge Street.  At night the building will glow like a beacon.  Exposed interior beams and a projecting roof overhang will evoke the butterfly steel structure of the demolished platform canopies of the original train station.  Entry to the restaurant will occur from a glass-enclosed vestibule located on the new public square.  A feature stair and a barrier-free elevator will lead up to the panoramic vista of the main floor at track height.
