Renovation and expansion project of the middle unit of a triplex.  This is an ongoing exploration of light density housing (4 units or less) as an alternative form of dwelling beyond the ubiquitous detached-single family residence.  The middle unit is phase 2.  The rear unit was improved in a phase 1 back in 2007.  As both the architect and owner of this project, we have had the unique opportunity to both occupy the space and schedule the project delivery into phases separated by long durations.  These two aspects has allowed us plenty of time to reflect and reevaluate our design and to be responsive to the ever evolving project parameters (eg. life events, economy, market conditions, etc.).
