Pepperidge Farm

From its modest beginnings in a home kitchen in the late 1930s to its international renown as a billion-dollar brand today, the legacy of Pepperidge Farm is one of thoughtful innovation and an overall commitment to integrity and quality.

When the company needed to expand its corporate headquarters to better support business activities and meet market expectations, they looked to Perkins Eastman to help them reflect on their culture and reposition their work environment to support future needs. While many consulting engagements focus on workplace realignment and real estate cost containment, Pepperidge Farm’s focus was to understand and nurture their 100-year-old culture while transforming their corporate headquarters to a 21st-century workplace. With the support of Pepperidge Farm’s leadership, targeted research and analysis, and the commitment of project ambassadors, the design team was able to develop an integrated solution that balanced density, brand, and culture into a unique design solution.

Ultimately Perkins Eastman provided workplace consulting, architectural design for the new building, exterior skin replacement, full architectural interiors, branding, project management, new cafeteria design, and furniture selection management. The result is an historical brand and company made all the more relevant for today’s consumers and today’s employees both.

The rebranding of Pepperidge Farm’s corporate headquarters exterior includes a new main entrance, a modernized façade of the pre-existing building, and the addition of a new 40,000 sf Innovation Center building that houses test kitchens, a “broadcast-type” culinary demonstration kitchen, and executive meeting and strategy spaces. The 80,000 sf interior renovation brings the headquarters up-to-date with new furniture standards and infrastructure, while introducing a new cafeteria and dining for Pepperidge Farm’s “workplace of the future.”
