The Cascade Blocks in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood include commercial retail spaces, ground floor live-work units, 19 townhouse units and 468 apartments. The Cascade Blocks connect Cascade Park with the Seattle Times Pocket Park using a diagonal, cross-site pedestrian mews. The buildings enhance pedestrian movement through the site by carving away the ground levels. Pedestrian movement is also reflected in the buildings’ fenestration and cladding cadence at the upper floors.
