Culver City, CA
This new Academic Center for The Archer School for Girls is a 30,000 SF two-story addition to the school’s main campus building - a Los Angeles historic landmark built in 1931.
The Project provides 30 state-of-the-art classrooms linked by generous passageways and outdoor courtyards. The courtyards bring daylight and fresh air into the center of the building and offer a variety of collateral spaces supporting student socializing and collaboration. The classrooms are designed for maximum flexibility and student comfort—featuring advanced audio-visual systems, individual climate controls, and operable windows for natural light and ventilation.
Designed to meet US Department of the Interior standards for additions to historic buildings, the project architecture combines contemporary features with traditional materials and compositional strategies to create an overall appearance that is “highly compatible with, yet clearly different from” the adjacent historic building.
