We see the new Madison Avenue NYC Issey Miyake store as a kind of complementary receptacle for the display of Miyake’s unique designs, providing a unique sales space and transformative experience for the customer. Our aim is to create a space that both echoes and supports Miyake’s design sensibility.

Our research was influenced by Miyake’s approach to the integration between the body and the fabric-cover. We were especially interested in the concept of “folding” systems of sculptural space, and have developed this in line with our own minimalist aesthetic. We have also focused on developing a sense of fluid, almost liquid, movement with a strong emphasis on dynamic lines and reflective surfaces.
