Our Savior Lutheran Church

A magnificent Texas version of a "southern German post-Reformation Lutheran cathedral" - expressed as an octogon Austin limestone sanctuary. This soaring sanctuary (100' from floor to the bottom of the cupola) features twin stacked balconies, a 30-rank tracker pipe organ, extensive statuary and carvings and stained glass. The structure is unique in that it boasts a basement level for offices and choir support in coastal Texas with a high water table (by means of a raised hill that makes the church look even taller but also ensures the basement level is actually above the potential flood line). Spectacular sight lines and acoustics make this a real jewel for concerts and worship services.

The suspended crucifix is nearly twice life size. Steve Upham also designed custom pulpit, altar and baptistry for the church.

Crosspointe's architects subsequently designed seven buildings for the adjacent parochial school, including the cafeterian/gym bldg., resource center, day care bldg., and several classroom buildings.
