Bim Villa is designed and constructed for a large family, situated within a new urban area on the coast of Ha Long – a rapidly developing city with numerous construction projects underway.
Currently, the adjacent plots remain undeveloped, but they will soon be filled with constructions. The scale, volume, and number of floors will adhere to the established regulations. Typically, adjustments occur in the details or non-street-facing elements.
For this project, we proposed large internal voids within the building mass, accompanied by garden spaces, as well as play areas for energetic children.
The large veranda is located on the first floor, at the south of the building, being the first significant void. It is shielded from sun and rain by a large overhanging volume from the second floor, without any supporting columns. Here, children can play freely, and during special occasions, family friends can gather and converse. With clean, shaded natural wooden flooring and large sliding doors, this veranda is also considered an extension of the dining room, living room, and kitchen, as well as connecting to the adjacent greenery and garden.
The elevated voids are arranged on the upper floors. These spaces feature organically connected gardens around the sleeping quarters. There are both horizontal and vertical voids. This space still houses plants and includes a play area, allowing sunlight, wind, some rain, and views of the sky filled with clouds over the sea.
This project can also serve as a reference for the design and construction of residential houses in new urban areas. It ensures a comfortable and diverse personal experience while creating streetscapes with plenty of green spaces, voids, and natural vibrancy.
