Karinox Coffee

In the heart of Phan Rang - a coastal city in Vietnam famous for its arid climate and rich Champa cultural heritage, an architectural icon named Karinox Coffee - designed and constructed by Delicate has appeared. This 2800m2 project is a combination of sustainable design, architecture that honors indigenous culture and environmental protection awareness.

When designing and constructing Karinox, we faced a great challenge to create a sustainable architecture in a tropical monsoon climate, characterized by hot, dry and windy weather, while preserving and promoting local cultural and historical values among the blend of many cultural sources in the world.

The design of Karinox Coffee is a testament to bioclimatic architecture. The orientation, layout and materials of the building have been calculated to maximize natural light and ventilation. By designing a vertical shading system to block the sun for the building and air vents to create spaces inside the concrete shell covered with Bau Truc ceramic tiles, creating a convective air flow to reduce temperature and limit heat radiation. In addition, the design of large glass panels and the use of light-transmitting materials in the door and wall areas also helps to significantly increase the amount of natural light for the building.

The use of Bau Truc ceramics - a heritage of Ninh Thuan with the characteristic of not causing harm to the environment and people - for the building helps to reduce the internal temperature thanks to low thermal conductivity, good heat reflection and reduced heat transfer through the wall. Karinox Coffee is also designed with open floors to maximize visibility between spaces and improve ventilation.

Karinox Coffee consists of 4 floors with main functions including: bar, outdoor and indoor coffee area, office area, children's playground and souvenir display area. The design of functional areas in the building meets the needs of both local and tourist guests. To enhance the connection with nature, the coffee area is arranged both inside and outside the shop.

Karinox's design concept is created by two elements: Nature and Culture. Nature, especially the "wind" - the climate characteristic of the area, is the main source of design inspiration. Wind symbolizes movement and progress, making Karinox always new and flexible from every angle. The surface of Karinox has a color change similar to Champa ceramics. In particular, we use Bau Truc ceramic tiles for the exterior to create a mortarless surface, typical of ancient Cham architecture.

Karinox's design is inspired by Bau Truc pottery village, Vinh Hy rock mountain and Cham tower, expressed through details such as the bar, wall lamps, tiles, models and wooden ceilings. Many spaces in the building are arranged to display souvenirs and local handicrafts, making Karinox a destination to honor local culture.

When entering Karinox, you will feel the completely natural space coming from the volume and materials of the building. This place has become the destination of many tourists coming to Phan Rang to experience the culture, history and enrich their understanding of this land.
