Starting from the 235 sq m of construction, a complete remodeling is carried out to take advantage of the excellent location of this 1940 house. A new habitability program is prepared that includes total changes in facilities, structure and finishes.

The original project had 2 levels and an abandoned roof. The new project takes advantage of the third level and transforms it into an attractive rooftop garden, with enough space to relocate the utility room along with the laundry area.

To reach the third level, a staircase was built on top of the existing one, resulting in a generous triple height in the main living room of the house. Maintaining the distribution of 4x4 square spaces, the change in heights – single, double and triple – creates a new and very interesting route of the house.

At the back of the first level is the formal room that has double height and is covered with a dome. The space that was left free with the relocation of the utility room was used to integrate a half bathroom and take the kitchen space to the back, increasing its dimension. This reorganization also helped create an additional parking spot.

The renovated residence has generous public areas distributed in the living room, dining room, kitchen and guest bathroom. In the private area there are 2 bedrooms with their respective bathrooms and a study that can serve as an additional bedroom, in addition to the new roof garden, the utility room and laundry patio.

Considering the limitations of the original program, the new design leads this residence to a much longer useful life and with better use of square meters.
