BAAL Apartment is an interior design project located in one of the most exclusive areas to the west of Mexico City. The accompaniment of this particular client went through various properties, buildings, and proposals before finally settling in an apartment within a complex at the Bosques Golf Club.

In this project, there was close follow-up with the client, a couple with four daughters, who gradually adapted to both the place and the shape of the project according to emerging needs and demands.

For this design, a materiality of neutral and natural colors was approached with oak wood in the hallways and fixed furniture, white walls and ceiling, hardwood, basalt, and marble floors in different spaces, as well as the rest of the furniture in neutral tones to make the space timeless and let the materials speak for themselves, always maintaining tonal homogeneity.

This can be noticed especially in the common living areas, where the sofas are low and cream-colored, to make the space appear larger, without separating into living room and dining room. The dining room, with a black glass table and gray fabric chairs, follows the color palette of the entire residence, acting as color accents on a base of white, gray, and brown.

The central idea of the project is that it is read from a central body of wood, the main circulation corridor, which contains all the services. In this corridor, adorned with art pieces chosen by the studio, it remains completely uniform and clean; it reads like a box completely lined with wood with a simple thermally treated oak floor design, coated with natural oil on walls, which helps to conceal the bathroom, kitchen, and service area doors, completed with a basalt tile floor; together, this serves as a threshold or filter between the public and private spaces of the residence.

With this corridor distributing the areas of the house, it is possible for the family of six to interact in the same area at the same time, and it segments the residence in such a way that some members can have social gatherings without interfering with the privacy or daily routine of the rest of the household.

The central space of the house is the living/dining room, which also includes a bar area. For this, the office designed a piece of furniture made of simply cut marble, containing the fireplace and integrating a television screen that can be hidden if desired thanks to a sliding curtain made of lambrin. With all this, the space can adapt to any type of gathering as well as to the family's private activities.

The choice of clean and polished tones for the furniture in the living/dining room is accompanied by oak wood details on the hallway wall, which also acts as the bar wall, with a lattice allowing limited light entry into the corridor, accentuating the drama of discovering the spaces through a tunnel, naturally illuminated to indicate where to make stops, guided only by artificial lighting on the floor.

The kitchen combines white with warm wood tones, with simply cut and placed marble floors, walnut walls, and drawers, as well as granite countertops.

The areas of the residence most important to the client - common areas and bedrooms - have balconies that, thanks to large windows, allow for a deep connection with nature from within the project.

The terrace, being an extension of the apartment, follows the same color and texture principles, while also respecting the overall design of ironwork and building colors, prioritizing light colors, and reducing brown accents. This can be seen especially in the hexagonal concrete center tables and the black iron and rope armchairs, as well as in an extension of the indoor fireplace, in the same marble material.

The entire residence has lighting systems controlled with NTX to intelligently manage light in all spaces.

The combination of direct and indirect lights helps to highlight the materials in the finishes of walls and ceilings, as well as to focus attention on the areas of the house with the main furniture in each, as in the dining room with the main table, with pendant lamps.

In the office, we always take care of all the details of the work and the final project. Thus, achieving a design as clean as possible, but always keeping the client's needs ahead.

In this apartment, this is reflected by relating all the materials to each other, providing uniformity in the finishes of the entire residence. For example, the change in wall finish corresponds to the change in floor finish.
