We had the chance to design a studio apartment in Berlin, one of the fastest-growing cities in Europe, currently facing a real housing market crisis.
The apartment needs to provide all essential comforts in 38 sqm, using every corner despite the difficult shape given by the protruded volume of the elevator shaft invading the space. Our idea was to leave the studio as open as possible; the three central functions of living, bathing, and sleeping are determined through three subtle elements: a silk curtain, a wardrobe tower, and a podest.
Above everything, a round mouth-blown glass neon lamp emphasizes the wholeness of the space while being split into three different portions, one for each area, individually tunable.
