Firouzeh (Turquoise) of Kermanshah shopping mall

Firouzeh (Turquoise) of Kermanshah shopping mall is the largest commercial center in the west of Iran. The building comprises 13 floors housing various shopping departments catering to the local and regional areas. Situated in front of the historic and listed Masjed Ja’me mosque, the building has been intentionally lowered to align with the mosque's skyline.

The design of the building incorporates a spacious pathway that cuts through its structure, serving as a pedestrian shortcut and connecting two main streets in the vicinity. This expansive pathway features an adorned glazed box, enclosing a generous internal void. Surrounded by solid and monolithic brick walls, it symbolizes the image of a turquoise stone firmly nestled in rocks. The glass-covered void allows ample daylight to permeate the public internal corridors and main halls, enhancing the vertical indoor features, including a magnificent four-story-high waterfall that gracefully cascades into the café center on the lowest floor.

The building envelope is adorned with fading shadow gap patterns and extruded brick boxes, with each box consisting of six bundled bricks. These parametric elements beckon visitors towards the building entrances while adding human-scale details to the grand and robust brick structure.
