My Great-Great-Grandfather built this farm, which has been in my family for multiple generations. This structure was part of a larger family compound, made up of several barns, this one being the horse stable. Apart from a couple of renovations, this structure has sustained and remained intact for over 100 years. While designing the new home, the context of the island and the memories I have here were very much influential throughout the design process. The design is focused on the idea that the activation of the land is still visible from all points from the interior of the house. Although our occupations have changed from farming, the land is still integral, connecting us to our history. The central linear glass box floats above the land, allowing for the landscape to pull through the home uninterrupted.
