The project entailed the full refurbishment and extension to a house in Beechwood Park, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland. The brief was to create a family home within the existing structure and to extend to cater for modern living. Creating a light filled space was important to the client. This is achieved through the use of large windows and rooflights which bring light deep into the plan. The extension responds to the site and orientation by connecting with the large, west-facing rear garden. A shelf interrupts the long roof light and provides a degree of separation between the kitchen and dining area while still maintaining some sense of a visual connection through it’s openings.
