Montpelier, VT
New Construction: 2,500 sf main camp, 550 sf guest house, 400 sf boat house and dock.
This new ‘Camp’ is situated lakeside on a heavily wooded lot in the Adirondack State Park. An organization concept of elevated buildings connected by raised paths references a traditional Adirondack camp’s many dedicated service buildings united by forest paths. The basic building structures are wood clad timber frame. Light building assembly and foundation requirements reflect that all materials and labor must be brought to the site by relatively small trailerable boats. Natural light is paramount as this camp is off-grid and has no electricity. Only materials in their rawest serviceable form, from as near to the site as is possible, will be used in this construction. Occupancy is seasonal and access is by boat.
