Andrea Mason / Architect, is a multi-disciplinary architecture and design firm specializing in both commercial and residential projects ranging in scale from free-standing buildings, to interiors and objects. The design sensibility is one that embraces materials, details, and proportion in relationship to the specificity of a project. The form and image of the design result from a dialogue between the client, the architect, and the specific needs and place for which a proposal is designed. We believe in creating meaningful, engaging, and enduring designs striving to find what is special and important within a given project and to express that architecturally through a careful selection of materials, details, and sense of proportion.

Prior to forming Andrea Mason / Architect, Andrea Mason worked with a rich array of well-known architects and designers. With Stephan Jaklitsch Design, she designed retail stores in Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles and branding concepts for the New York based designer Marc Jacobs. Earlier in her career, she worked with Polshek Partnership on the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Steven Harris Architects, helping to design numerous high-end Manhattan townhouses and residences. With the Arizona desert iconoclast Will Bruder, she worked on an addition to the Scottsdale Museum of Art. Mason has also been involved in exhibition design, creating installations for the video artist John Pilson in the 2000 Venice Biennale as well as a video viewing environment for the PS 1 New York Animations 2001 exhibition in New York and Berlin. A graduate of the Yale School of Architecture in 1994, she is the recipient of the Moulton Andrus Award and Drawing Prize. In 1990, she graduated with honors from Barnard College where she undertook a dual major in Architecture and German Literature.

Currently, the office is working on numerous residential and commercial projects which vary in size and include apartments, townhouses, office expansions and a Corporate Headquarters for a Manhattan based Real Estate office, and freestanding houses in Millerton, NY and Castine, Maine.
