Jørn Utzon 1918-
Son of Aage Utzon, spend his childhood in Aalborg where he completed High School in 1937.
JU studied architecture at The Royal Academy in Copenhagen from which he graduated in 1942. The following years were spend working in Stockholm in Sweden. He returned to Denmark with his family after the war and commenced to work from his own practice. JU´s own house in Hellebaek from the early fifties was followed by a number of private houses, design work and many competition schemes.
In 1957 JU won the international competition for the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
After working out of his office in Denmark on this project for a number of years, with frequent trips to Sydney, he and the family moved to Sydney late 1962.
