«christian pottgiesser architecturespossibles» (CPAP) has been founded in Paris by Christian and Pascale Pottgiesser in 2005. The diversity of architecture, design and landscape-projects ranges from small scales, including private homes and gardens, to larger scales like urban design. The residential, cultural and working-space projects have been broadly published and the practice has been awarded with international prizes, such as the RIBA award (EU) in 2012. CPAP includes in its activities cooperation with artists as for instance the production of the «promesse de l’écran» by Pierre Leguillon.
Beside their mediatical image, we are fascinated by things that have to be seen and experienced - directly in front of the «unicum» - in order to fully grasp their interest. Free of any judgments, our interest is focused on all available design techniques. Our work is situated somewhere between digital Nurbs and a material block of clay: simultaneously contemporaneous and primitive.
We added the denotation «architecturespossibles» to our practice's name in order to convey the idea that at the beginning of all projects, all kinds of imaginable architectures are possible. We have the impression that most things still have to be invented, undogmatically, somewhere between the tabula rasa and the palimpsest. Occasionally, in our experimental, non-standard work on normativities, renovation and reconstruction of existing buildings, spontaneously unexpected configurations emerge.
