AFFECT-T is an abbreviation in closing; Affectionately. Often used by Marcel Duchamp in his correspondence with friends and fellow artists. The studio uses the term as a guide to the relationship with the client and a central aim of built space and objects- to design and construct something which is viewed Affectionaltely.
The second meaning of the name is the term Affect or Affects as an experience of an individual in a space often conveyed through mood or sensation. This a major avenue of design research for the studio, the aim of affects or the use of them in the design process is create spaces which are directly experienced with a lasting sensation on the user. The Affect of the space should be felt and create a singular architecture which appropriate to the brief, site, and occupants.
As a design firm we work on a range of scales and projects. Our chief concern is the is the creation of space and experience. This is achieved by the design of objects, installations, interiors, and buildings. We cater to a wide range of clients and briefs always with a concern for craft and the environment. Our proposals are designed to last and have a lasting impact, they are individual and formally unique spaces. We believe it is this attention to detail and the design process that makes the studio distinct in the field of architecture and design.
