Derek Hoeferlin, AIA, affiliate ASLA, is principal architect of [dhd] and an associate professor and the chair of landscape architecture and urban design programs at Washington University in St. Louis. The work presented on this site oscillates between practice at [dhd] and research at Wash. U.
He lives, practices and teaches in St. Louis, Missouri, where he grew up. He also frequents New Orleans, Louisiana, with the two river cities connected by the Mississippi River.
Derek received a Bachelor and Master of Architecture from Tulane University, and a post-professional Master of Architecture from Yale University.
He lectures about his work internationally and his designs and research have been awarded, exhibited, and published broadly.
