Greg Bjarko and Chris Serra met in Bozeman, Montana, as architecture students and upon graduating, headed to the West Coast. After gaining experience with architecture firms in Los Angeles and Seattle, they established BjarkoSerra Architects in 1992. Since then, the firm has built a portfolio of distinguished work in the Seattle area. Their work encompasses a broad spectrum of project types, such as new and remodeled residences, vacation homes and retreats, multi-family residences, religious institutions, daycare and community centers, fitness and health facilities, and several restaurants and microbreweries.
Many of the firm’s most interesting projects have been achieved through creative yet economical solutions. These successes are the cornerstone of the practice. BjarkoSerra Architects have been recognized for design excellence on a number of occasions, including an AIA Honor Award commendation for the First Christian Reformed Church addition and AIA Home of the Month designations for the Fuoco/Liu Residence and the 42nd Street Condominiums. They have also had projects published in the New York Times, Luxe, Arcade, Dwell, Seattle Homes and Lifestyles, Seattle Magazine/Northwest Home and Garden, Pacific Northwest, and Seattle Metropolitan. Northwest Home and Garden currently list them as one of the top 50 Northwest Architects.
In addition to the quality of the final result, the firm believes in a quality service and process. The small office size and organization allows for a principal to personally manage each project.
