Elaine has a reverence for the inherent beauty of natural materials and unique textiles, and she thoughtfully incorporates elements of each into every project. As a result, the ESD aesthetic embraces both art and design, where each personalized space is elevated with dynamic mixes of vintage and contemporary pieces and site-specific artisanal works.
Starting her career in NYC, Santos was a lead designer at two prestigious manhattan interior design firms, and for nine and a half years she lead the interior design department at Barliswedlick architects LLC, an architectural digest top 100 firm, specializing in modern residential design, based in NYC and Hudson, NY. During her time there, her designs were nominated for interior design magazine's best of year award, and her work landed on the cover of the home section of the new york times and dwell magazine. Elaine's appreciation for sustainable design has brought her to be an invited panelist at conferences and forums hosted by interior design magazine and luxe magazine. She holds a degree in interior design from parsons school of design.
She has worked on projects from coast to coast as well as abroad, often assisting clients in the selection of architects, landscape designers, and other consultants.
