Dr Kostas Grigoriadis is a designer and university lecturer. His work explores the spatial and theoretical implications of the use of multi-materials in architecture, as well as the new paradigm of spatial and material continuity that they will enable. His practice Continuum provides building design services, and is currently in the process of constructing a tourist centre and small-scale masterplan in Anhui, China for Cozoo Ltd. Continuum has previously won Spiretec competition for the design and construction of 62,000 square metre World Trade Centre Noida in Delhi, India. Kostas studied Architecture at UCL, followed by a Master in Architecture and Urbanism at the Architectural Association’s Design Research Laboratory. He has worked for Foster + Partners and Populous in London and held a Visiting Lectureship at the Royal College of Art where he also completed a PhD in Architecture by Project (in June 2017) that focused on multi-material design methodologies. He is currently a Lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and a Design and Technical Tutor at the AA (since 2010). He has edited the book Mixed Matters: A Multi-Material Design Compendium, published in June 2016 by Jovis Verlag and was awarded the Ivan Petrovic Prize in eCAADe 2014, and the Arup Prize for Emerging Talent in Architecture- Special Mention at the Royal Academy’s 2016 Summer Exhibition. In 2018 he won the RIBA President’s Award for Design and Technical Research and in 2019 he was awarded the inaugural Google R+D in the Built Environment Fellowship.
Lizy Huyghe studied at the University for Science and Arts in Ghent, Belgium where she received her Diploma in Master of Architecture with Honours in 2008. After her studies she moved to Paris where she worked for several small design-led practices and was involved in several cultural, educational and leisure projects, national and international competitions and master planning projects. In 2010 Lizy joined the London office of Populous where she was involved in large scale projects and was involved in the design of the new stadium for Olympique Lyonnais in France as well as the Olympic park for the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. In 2011 Lizy joined ACME where she has been involved in numerous projects and competitions, as a project architect in a leisure led scheme in Marseille, a private residence in Chamonix and construction of the Minories Residential scheme in City of London and as an Associate in overseeing the construction of a mixed use project in the centre of Swansea. Lizy also taught for a year from 2019 to 2020 as a Unit Master at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London.
