Odami is a Toronto-based design studio offering architectural, interior, and furniture design services. The studio was founded in 2017 by Spanish architect Aránzazu González Bernardo (B.Sc.Arch, M.Arch: ETSAC, A Coruña, Spain; BCIN) and Canadian designer Michael Norman Fohring (B.Sc.Arch, M.Arch: McGill University, Canada).
Focusing primarily on residential and commercial projects, we work closely with clients and craftsmen, ensuring that every detail and need is thoroughly considered and well-executed. Our priority is to deliver thoughtful projects which are timeless, well-crafted, and functional, with a strong aesthetic presence.
For us, this comes through a profound respect for context and the needs of each client, allowing a unique character to emerge in each project. At the same time, our work is also driven by a keen interest in craft and materials. Through our explorations in furniture and objects we’re constantly researching new and interesting ways of combining and working with materials. This in turn informs our approach to interior and architectural work.
Altogether, we strive to create projects which are elegant yet playful, restrained yet rich, and stand the test of time.
Odami is registered as a Qualified Design Firm with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
In addition to Odami, both Aránzazu and Michael are actively involved in architectural and interior design education. Aránzazu is a Sessional Lecturer at the Ryerson School of Interior Design, and Michael is a Sessional Lecturer at the Ryerson School of Interior Design and the University of Waterloo School of Architecture.
