San Francisco, CA
My business is about solving problems.
The world is changing so quickly and the architecture profession has to keep up. In my home town of San Francisco we have no less than seven codes of regulation that govern building and they all get updated every three years or less. This list does not include any regulations that may be imposed by a local homeowners association or specific State laws that also include restrictions on property development such as the California Coastal Act and The Environmental Quality Act. Neighbors complain and appeal your project, local Historic Preservation activists oppose your plans.
Even the simplest project has to jump through most of these hoops. And this is just the beginning. Afterwards comes finding a contractor and surviving the construction phase. My goal is to simplify the entire process for the homeowner. Most of my clients aren’t interested in beautiful drawings or amazing designs they can’t afford. They have a problem. They need a permit for a new bedroom, bathroom, deck, third story- whatever. I specialize in small-scale projects and offer a one-stop shop for modest remodels, additions and custom homes. I do the architectural, structural, interior, lighting and landscape design, energy compliance and notification and marshal everything through the entitlement process myself. I will represent you at hearings at the Planning Commission, the Appeals Board, the Neighborhood Architectural Review Board or anyone else who has jurisdiction over your project. Having been a carpenter and contractor myself, I work closely with your builder to create a team dedicated to the same goal- the successful completion of your project- on time and within budget.
When you begin any project in this complex society of ours, you need to be confident that all the bases are covered. I can do that for you.
