Rada Markovic (b. 1985) is a serbian architect and interior designer with german roots. She lives and works between Parma, Italy and Berlin, Germany. Since 2004 until 2009 she studied Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at University of Belgrade. Since the beginning of her studies she was looking to integrate light with its work place in architectural projects. To begin with the idea of light art was that light should be an extension of daily life as well as visual and intellectual stimulation, the soul of any living and working space enabling us to better visualize the relationship between space and human being. During her studies she worked with architects like Dušan Tešić and Zoran Bulajić in Belgrade. In 2009 she moved to Milan, where she completed the PhD in Lighting Design and Technology of Light at Polytechnic University. During the master she has done several projects with Michele De Lucchi, Huub Ubbens and Carlotta de Bevilacqua. From 2010 she started working for Artemide, Danese and Luceplan in Milan, Italy as an architectural lighting planner and international trainer for the Italian and the international market. Rada Markovic opened her lighting design studio in 2015. Currently she develops architectural lighting projects for public and residential spaces in Europe and abroad. Her latest project is: international artist-photographer Massimo Vitali’s private house in Lucca.
