Adapting from a multidisciplinary design studio to a disruptive luxury brand, Francis Bitonti Studio continues to establish a unique methodology of blended computer driven techniques and cutting edge manufacturing technologies to realize what has been called by the press “alien” objects.
Francis Bitonti Studio is continuously committed to the application of digital design and computer controlled manufacturing technologies, aimed at transforming the logic of traditional mass production within the fashion industry.
The Studio was created in 2007, when then architect/industrial designer, Francis Bitonti, became involved with a competition held by the New York City Department of Transportation, Google, and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Bitonti was a finalist in the competition, creating an eco-friendly and cost-effective bike rack that didn’t sacrifice on design, capable of being reconfigured into over 800 different versions of itself.
Focusing on process and contemporary design and technology applications, Francis Bitonti Studio has continued to concentrate on a variety of projects, including collaborations with fashion design Katie Gallagher and the creation of the 3d printed dress for burlesque icon Dita von Teese, leading up to the launch of their luxury goods collection in 2015.
With a spotlight on the luxury fashion market, The Studio is still deeply invested in the research and integration of new technologies, often utilizing 3d printing applications to produce intense formal intricacy absent of human labor. Looking towards the future, Francis Bitonti Studio continues to replace repetition with variation, creating iconic, exclusive items for tomorrows' luxury market.
