Calvert Wright Architecture is an architectural design studio founded in 1998 and incorporated as a professional corporation in 2000. The office of eight people is led by Calvert Wright and supported by a team of architects, project managers, designers, and administrative staff.
Our work has been honored nationally and internationally. This year we received an AIA award for design excellence for a project completed in Bellport, Long Island. We are looking forward to the publication of our projects in the book, Best of Office Architecture and Design.
Some of the projects represented here are currently under construction; some projects are built; others remain un-built. As we hope you will see, the common thread in every project is an integrity and excellence of both design and construction.
Over the past fourteen years, we have honed this approach to integrated design with a diverse range of project types. Calvert Wright Architecture does not specialize in a particular type of architectural program or facet of design. We strive to produce architecture that transcends aesthetic or technical one-sidedness. Our expertise is the design of a type of architecture that serves our clients’ needs and meets their scheduling, budgetary and aesthetic goals.
In March, we will speak at the spring conference of the Association of College and Research Libraries in Indianapolis about our libraries designed for Hunter College. We have also been invited to speak about 21st century technology in library design at the 2012 Maine Library Directors’ Forum at Colby College – as well as the 2012 LACUNY Institute forum, “Library Technology and the Future of Libraries”.
Our sustainable interior designs were selected for presentation at the AIA New York chapter competition for Sustainable Interiors. In 2011, our work was honored in the “Best-of-Year” issue of Interior Design. Other recent publications include, The Inspired Retail Space by Corinna Dean.
Our work has been featured in publications such as, Interior Design Magazine, The New York Times (Home Section), Figaro (Japan), Women’s Wear Daily, New York Magazine, Wallpaper, Harper’s Bazaar, Time Out, and Elle Décor.
In 2012, our work was featured on the NBC television series, “Open House New York” and previously, our designs were featured in the BBC documentary series, “Superhomes.”
