Sorg Architects is a full service, international design firm offering architectural design services as well as interior design, urban planning, historic preservation and construction management. Established in 1986 by Suman Sorg, FAIA, Sorg Architects is one of the largest woman-owned architecture firms in the United States. In 2010, Sorg expanded our global presence by opening a branch office in New Delhi, India.
The work of Sorg Architects reflects a commitment to modern architecture in urban settings. But rather than imposing a style irrespective of site, context, climate or culture, we carefully examine the unique characteristics of each place, along with the client’s programmatic requirements, and look to this intersection as the catalyst for an architectural concept. We believe design is a powerful tool for enhancing human experience and communicating ideas.
Using a collaborative leadership model, our founder, Suman Sorg, determines the design concept and ensures that each team efficiently and effectively manages its projects. Our designs are sculptural and often monumental, yet always work on a human scale. Sorg Architects’ thoughtful architectural compositions go well beyond function to elevate the spatial, material and visual experience.
Sorg Architects has garnered significant recognition for its work, including 23 awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Suman Sorg is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, is a member of the Lambda Alpha Honor Society, serves as a board member for the DC Building Industry Association, and is a Peer Reviewer for the General Services Administration (GSA) Design Excellence Program.
