The Pompidou Center is dedicating a major retrospective exhibition to the Japanese architect Tadao Ando, a major figure in contemporary architecture, winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize for Architecture.

Articulated around four main themes, the primitive form of space, the challenge of the urban, the genesis of the project and the dialogue with history, the exhibition invites you to discover the great principles of the creation of Tadao Ando such as its use of smooth concrete, the prominence given to simple geometric volumes, the integration of natural elements into its spatial devices, or the importance it attaches to the intensity of the bodily experience generated by its architecture. .
Unveiling fifty major projects, illustrated by one hundred and eighty drawings, seventy original models and numerous slideshows, this retrospective retraces the different periods of his architectural career and highlights his key achievements, from the Azuma House to Sumiyoshi (1976) to the Bourse de Commerce in Paris (autumn 2019).
