Starting at Pratt Institute, I managed to take advantage of every year and try a little bit of everything, making sure I advance my skills beyond what is expected. As an industrial design major I made it my goal to be a multi-disciplined designer, focusing on more than product design and exploring aspects of branding, graphic, furniture and exhibition design. The start of every new project becomes something I look forward to, allowing me to begin my design process, from ideation to research through prototyping until finally reaching production. After graduating from Pratt Institute I found myself working at an architecture firm in Kuwait, where I came in as a furniture designer and quickly escalated to working on commercial architectural projects. This lead me to pursue a master’s degree in Architecture at Parsons, where I worked on projects of different scales, from housing to urban design and landscape architecture. My time at Parsons allowed me to familiarize myself with the technical aspects of architecture, which involved creating construction documents and a focus on materials, along with several projects being collaborative. The shift in scale from product design to architecture has allowed me to think about architecture as being user friendly, yet with the context of the site as a driving force to a design.
