Chinese Characters throughout Centuries

The project is located at the Shanke Village in Jinxi City, Jiangxi Province, the origin of woodblock printing. However, economic boom in modern society have brought the young generation in the village to cities for new job opportunities. Vitality in the village fades with dying of this traditional art. Visiting the village, I only found some elderly masters of woodblock printing, who failed to pass down the craft to the next generation. Although woodblock printing no longer functions in modern society, it is still valuable for cultural research. 

Inspired by the woodblock printing, I plan to design a cultural industrial park by taking the current status of Chinese character design into consideration, with the hope of reviving the vitality in the village.
