The 63,200 sq ft CFAWC facility has an operational focus on
aerospace doctrine development, analysis and lessons learned, professional
military education, Air Force concept development and experimentation,
distributed mission training and synthetic environment coordination. This leading
edge facility includes a lecture theatre, library, offices, simulation spaces, meeting
rooms and classrooms – all spaces wired for appropriate access within the three
levels of security zones.
Fancom designed the voice, data (three systems), video surveillance, security, intrusion detection, public address and theatre cabling systems for the CFAWC facility. Bill Weekes and his team coordinated the design of the main telecom room and three telecom rooms alongside the architectural, electrical and mechanical consultants. Bill reviewed the back-up and emergency power
requirements for electronic equipment and associated cooling systems. He participated and practiced LEED principles to apply for innovation points and attended bi-weekly meetings throughout the construction phase. Bill prepared the commissioning manuals for the three different electronic security systems and participated in every phase of the electronic security commissioning with the
various contractors responsible for installation and commissioning.
